The Commission on Elections ( Comelec ) has officially convened as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) to oversee the 2025 national and local elections. The NBOC will be responsible for accepting certificates of canvass from senators and party-list groups, while local boards of canvassers will handle the canvassing of votes for local positions.
Comelec chairperson George Erwin Garcia stated that local boards of canvassers may begin proclaiming winners for local races within two to three hours after voting concludes. Garcia anticipates that by the end of the day, official announcements for mayor and vice mayor results will be released. For the national race, the process of vote canvassing and the proclamation of winners is projected to be completed within five days. Comelec expects a more expedited canvassing process due to system enhancements, particularly the implementation of automated counting machines and electronic transmission of election results.
