The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on Friday that ballot printing is expected to resume by the middle of next week, a delay from its initial target of January 20.

The Commission on Elections announced on Friday that ballot printing is expected to resume by the middle of next week, a delay from its initial target of January 20.

“The EMS needs to be updated before we can add new names. Hopefully, the changes to the EMS will be completed by tomorrow. These updates are connected to the modifications in the ACM and the consolidated canvassing system CCS. By Monday, we’re aiming to proceed with the trusted build for Pro V&V of Alabama,” Laudiangco told reporters in a press briefing at the National Printing Office.

According to Comelec, the original system lacked the capability to accommodate adjustments, such as adding or removing candidates’ names. “By Tuesday, we hope to begin generating the ballot face templates. The next step will be the serialization of each ballot, and we anticipate starting production by mid-week,” Laudiangco said.
