COMMISSION on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Garcia on Saturday said there would be complete transparency in the printing of ballots for next year's midterm polls at the National Printing Office (NPO).
COMMISSION on Elections Chairman George Garcia on Saturday said there would be complete transparency in the printing of ballots for next year's midterm polls at the National Printing Office .'We will never leave any day without any observer or anyone watching to avoid other issues similar to what happened before,' he said.Garcia said that observers, composed of members of the media, interest groups and concerned citizens, were safeguards against irregularities.
Comelec had set an ambitious target of printing 70 million ballots within the next two months.Garcia said this was the first time the government used HP printing technology.'We are happy because it is state of the art; it is a very improved version of all the printing machines we know so far,' he said.Comelec said the goal was one-to-one ratio between printed ballots and registered voters. No excess ballots will be produced to prevent discrepancies.
