NEW YORK – Sean “Diddy” Combs’s lawyers will deliver their closing arguments in his defense Friday (Saturday Manila time), one day after the prosecution
HIGH-PROFILE TRIAL. In this file photo taken last month, family members of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, arrive at at Manhattan’s Federal Court in New York City. On Wednesday this week, both parties have rested in the trial, and now lawyers will address jurors directly with marathon closing arguments. Music mogul Combs, 55, faces federal charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation with intent of prostitution. He denies all charges and faces life in prison if convicted.
He opted against testifying on his own behalf, a common strategy of defense teams who are not required to prove innocence, only to cast doubt on government allegations of guilt. In explaining the most serious charge of racketeering, the prosecution said Combs led a criminal enterprise of “loyal lieutenants” and “foot soldiers” who “existed to serve his needs.”
