The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) predicts cloudy skies with light rains in parts of Luzon and the Visayas on Wednesday, January 29, due to the combined influence of the shear line and the northeast monsoon.
Parts of Luzon and the Visayas will experience cloudy skies with light rains on Wednesday, January 29, due to the combined effects of the shear line and the northeast monsoon , also known as 'amihan'. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration ( PAGASA ), in its latest weather forecast , reported that while no significant weather disturbances are anticipated, these weather systems may result in occasional rainfall and cooler temperatures across several regions.
PAGASA explained that the shear line, generated by the collision of warm and cold air masses, will primarily impact the Visayas, while the 'amihan' will influence weather patterns in Luzon. \As a result of the northeast monsoon, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon are predicted to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains. The 'amihan' will also contribute to cloudy skies and rainfall in Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora. Conversely, the shear line is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms to the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, and Dinagat Islands. Palawan and the remaining areas of the Visayas will also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional rain showers or thunderstorms attributed to the shear line. Furthermore, PAGASA indicated that easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to the rest of Mindanao. \PAGASA urges residents in affected areas to remain vigilant and monitor weather updates, as flash floods or landslides might occur due to moderate to heavy rainfall or severe thunderstorms
