A winless finish in the group stage play can surely deflate any team's confidence, but Gilas Pilipinas naturalized player Jordan Clarkson remains proud with how they competed in the opening round of the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

'We're super motivated. From the beginning, we've been motivated. The team is strong, we fight, we never give up through the whole game,' the 31-year-old Clarkson said during the post-game interview with media. But even though the Philippines, which co-hosts the World Cup with Japan and Indonesia, is already out of the running for the second round, the Utah Jazz superstar said they have no plans of taking it easy.

But with Clarkson whistled for his fifth and foul entering the final three minutes, momentum eventually shifted to the Dominicana, with NBA star big man Karl-Anthony Towns leading the charge as the Caribbean squad went on to escape with an 87-81 win before a new FIBA World Cup record crowd of 38,115 people who packed the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
