The City Council approved on Friday Davao City’s P11.8 billion budget for 2023 with about P10 million allocated for MICE Conference slated next year.“The city council has approved the P11.8 billion budget sa city for 2023. This money will be used sa projects sa city and kauban na dinha ang budget for our MICECon next year. Dako kaayo ni siya na convention and let’s take advantage of this so that more conventions will come to the city next year,” Al-ag told Edge Davao.
Al-ag, chair of the Committee on Trade, Commerce and Industry of the City Council, said the conduct of MICECon here is expected to revive the tourism industry of the city. “We want to position Davao City as a convention hub and once diri ang MICECon next year we will be promoting the city na diri ang mga conventions na mahitabo and this will revive the tourism industry,” he said.
According to Al-ag, the bulk of the budget goes to the operations of the city: about P700 million will go to City Environment and Natural Resources Office to ensure the cleanliness of the city; P800 million to the City Health Office ; and P3 billion for the programs of the offices under the City Mayor’s Office .
He also said that about 20 percent of the annual development fund, which is more than P2 billion will go to the city’s infrastructure projects.
