A coalition of church and labor leaders is pushing for a P1,100 living wage ahead of possibly another round of price increases in basic commodities.
The Church People-Workers Solidarity , in a statement on Friday, backed the wage hike petitions recently filed by different labor groups and proposed wage hike measures pending in Congress.“The administration should back workers’ demands for a national wage increase if it genuinely wishes to help millions of wage earners and their families in coping with rising prices,” said Bishop Gerardo Alminaza, who heads CWS.
One of the petitions sought a daily minimum wage of P1,141 for workers in Metro Manila from the current P570.
