CHR says U.N. resolution vs drug war 'opportunity' to improve PH situation

MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Human Rights on Thursday, July 11, urged the Philippine government to see the United Nations resolution as an opportunity to improve the human rights situation in the country.

The UN Human Rights Council on Thursday adopted an Iceland-initiated resolution seeking several actions against the rising killings in the country, including under President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs. According to CHR, it is high time for the Philippine government to go back and change its previous position on independent investigations into the drug war killings.
