CHINESE vessels harassed a Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources’ ship, resulting in a ramming incident that caused the latter’s engine failure.National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea spokesperson, Assistant Director General Jonathan Malaya, said that BRP Datu Sanday encountered aggressive and dangerous maneuvers from eight Chinese maritime vessels on Sunday, August 25, 2024, while on its way to Escoda Shoal from Hasa Hasa Shoal.
“Claims suggesting that our personnel fell overboard and were subsequently rescued by the Chinese Coast Guard are completely unfounded. This fake news and misinformation serves as a clear illustration of the PRC’s willingness to distort the truth and engage in disinformation to bolster its public image,” he added.
