The National Bureau of Investigation arrested a Chinese man in Pasay City for allegedly practicing medicine without a license and offering services through a messaging application after his clinic was closed down.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday announced that its operatives have arrested a Chinese man in an entrapment operation in Pasay City over the alleged illegal practice of medicine. According to the NBI, operatives of its Metro Manila regional office apprehended him on December 3 for offering medical services to other Chinese despite lacking a permit to operate. The NBI stated he is not a licensed physician, nurse, or medical technologist.

The bureau obtained a certificate from the Department of Health (DOH) showing that his clinic is not licensed and has no pending application for a license. Undercover agents found that his clinic in Pasay has been closed down. Despite this, they found that he and his cohorts were still offering services through a messaging application. Authorities recovered his passport and driver's license, as well as Chinese medicines and medical equipment. He was presented for inquest before Pasay prosecutors for violation of the Medical Act of 1959 and the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012
