THE Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) said it would convince other colleges and universities in the country to join in world university rankings so they could compare themselves with foreign schools.

CHEd Chairman J. Prospero de Vera 3rd said that making Philippine universities available for ranking will also allow them to improve their programs and services as they strive to be at par with global universities.CHEd Chairman J. Prospero de Vera'Every university should look not just inside their own, but also other universities abroad, comparing, benchmarking, looking at their best practices and improving your own education quality,' de Vera said.

The university got the top spot after its project, '3D Visualization of Citywide Geohazard Mapping and Simulation of What-if Scenarios using Geospatial Research and Data Analytics,' took the top spot among the 50 ranked universities in the category.Samar State University President Dr. Marilyn Cardoso said the project is a software application that would give detailed visualizations and simulations of an area that is threatened with natural disasters in a three-dimensional perspective.
