Workers of private establishments will receive P10 more in their daily wages this month, the last part of the wage increase approved in May 2022 by the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board III. | Jun A. Malig/PDI
Agricultural workers will now get between P414 and P440 per day, while those in retail and service establishments will get P435 to P449 daily wages.
Wages in Aurora province will be P409 for workers in non-agriculture establishments; P382 to P394 for agricultural firms; and P344 for those in retail and service establishments. The Solidarity of Unions in the Philippines for Empowerment and Reforms, the Central Luzon Workers for Wage Increase, the Association of Wage Earners and Advocates-Philippine Trade and General Workers Organization, and the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines had asked the RTWPB 3 for P750 to P920-wage increase for Central Luzon workers.
The board approved only P40, citing the consumer price index, the 6- percent inflation rate, and the P369 poverty threshold in 2018 as bases for its decision. The wage board’s members include the regional directors of the Dept. of Labor and Employment, the Dept. of Trade and Industry, and the National Economic and Development Authority; two representatives from the employers’ sector; and two from the workers’ sector.
