SHOWING grit and determination, national cyclist Shagne Yaoyao recovered from an earlier crash to bag the silver medal in the Women’s Elite Cross-Country
event at the 2025 UCI Thailand Mountain Bike Cup in Kanchanaburi, Thailand.
Despite a challenging start marked by a crash during the opening lap that pushed her down to fourth place, Yaoyao powered through the competition.The country’s top cross-country rider from Danao, Cebu closed the gap and overtook two Thai rivals to secure her podium finish. The competition opened with a strong performance from junior rider Alexandra “Lexi” Dormitorio of Coach D Racing-Philippines, who clinched gold in the 13-kilometer Women’s Junior Cross-Country event. Her triumph set the tone for Team Philippines’ commendable showing at the event.
Adrian Nacario and John Andre Aguja, both representing Go for Gold, contributed to the medal haul with silver and bronze finishes, respectively, in the Men’s Under-23 Cross-Country event. In the Men’s Junior category, Thirdy Mana-ay of Go for Gold also shone, earning a silver medal after completing the 16-kilometer race just 50 seconds behind Thailand’s gold medalist Pongaryukun.Tags
