BUDGET carrier Cebu Pacific expects to finalize a deal for 100 to 150 new narrow-bodied jets worth more than $12 billion within the current quarter, a senior official said.

Mark Cezar, Cebu Pacific chief finance officer, said the company was in the final stages of coordination with both Airbus and Boeing.'We expect to announce the results by the second quarter of the year,' Cezar said but added that delivery schedules were still under discussion.The airline currently operates one of the youngest fleets in the world, with its diversified fleet mix of 74 aircraft enabling the widest network coverage in the Philippines.

It has six Airbus 330s, 33 Airbus 320s, 19 Airbus 321s, and 16 ATR turboprop aircraft.The airline posted a net income of P2.24 billion in the first quarter of this year, up nearly 108 percent from the P939 million in 2023.From January to March, Cebu Pacific flew over 5.5 million passengers, marking a 14-percent increase from a year earlier and a 3-percent growth from the previous quarter.Shares of Cebu Pacific operator Cebu Air Inc. were down by 10 centavos at P29.90 each on Monday.
