With most parts still littered with debris more than a week after Typhoon Odette struck, the city is planning to hold a “Clearing Day.”

CEBU CITY — During the “Clearing Day,” only essential vehicles will be allowed to ply on the streets to speed up the massive clearing operations, Rama said.

Efforts to clear the roads from debris have been slowed down by the presence of pedestrians and passing vehicles, the mayor said.Aside from debris, uncollected pile of garbage are also visible in some sidewalks.Guardo said two teams have been formed to speed up the collection of garbage. One team will be deployed in the South District and another one in the North District. Each team will have five payloaders and 20 dumptrucks.
