Cebu Airport Police Issue Advisory Ahead of Sinulog Festivities and May Elections

Cebu airport police are warning all domestic and international passengers against carrying any kind of amulets or charms, especially those containing empty shells. Police Major Ricky Calong, head of the airport police at Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA), said this advisory is in light of the approaching Sinulog festivities, which are expected to draw a large number of passengers.

He urged passengers to avoid bringing any amulets or charms to prevent problems, as these are often confiscated. Calong added that last year, they also confiscated amulets from passengers. Another measure being implemented at the airport is the gun ban in preparation for the upcoming May elections. According to PMAJ Calong, law enforcers and gun holders must obtain a certificate of authority from the Commission on Election (Comelec) and fulfill all necessary requirements to avoid confiscation of their firearms
