Residents of Bacoor City in Cavite voted to merge 44 barangays into just 18 and rename five others in a bid to ensure their economic growth and development in a plebiscite on Saturday.
Ang inyong pagboto ng YES! ay nagpapakita ng tunay na pagkakaisa at pagmamalasakit para sa mas maunlad na Bacoor,[Translation: Your vote of YES! Shows unity and concern for a more progressive Bacoor.]The concludedratified City Ordinance 275-2023, which ordered the merging of the 44 barangays and the renaming of 5 others. It was approved by Mayor Strike Revilla on March 28.
The ordinance said the merger would result in increased share in the National Tax Allocation for project development, lessen red tape, and strengthen peace and order, among others.
