Filipino athletes who won any medal of color in the recently-concluded 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China are set to receive cash incentives from the government.
This is by virtue of the Republic Act No. 10699 also known as the 'National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act'.Gold medalists Ernest John 'EJ Obiena in pole vault, Meggie Ochoa and Annie Ramirez in ju-jitsu, as well as Gilas Pilipinas in basketball are to benefit the most from this Act.As per the law, Asian Games gold medalists are entitled to receive P2 million for individual sports. Hence, Obiena, Ochoa, and Ramirez are set to become P2 million richer.
The Pinoy athletes who won bronze in the Asiad are: are Jones Insu in men's taijiquan and taijijian all-around, Clemente Tabugara in men's sanda 65kg, Gideon Padua in men's sanda 60kg, Elreen Ando in women's weightlifting 64kg, Alex Eala in women's singles tennis, Eala and Francis Alcantara in mixed doubles tennis, Patrick Perez in men's individual poomsae, Jason Huerte, Rheyjey Ortouste, Ronsited Cabayeron, Mark Joseph Gonzales, and Jom Lerry Rafael in sepak takraw...
