TWO village officials are accused of taking P8,500 from the P10,000 in aid that was granted to a pregnant beneficiary on June 6 as both criminal and administrative complaints have been brought before the Office of the Ombudsman in Davao City.
The chief of Sinawilan Village and a village councilor admitted taking a significant amount from the pregnant beneficiary's financial aid.Anne Villarin filed criminal and administrative charges against them with the help of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 11 .Villarin and DSWD FO-11 Regional Director Vanessa Goc-ong jointly executed a complaint affidavit on behalf of the department, as directed by DSWD Secretary Rexlon Gatchalian.
Villarin is a pregnant woman from Sinawilan, Matanao, Davao del Sur who claimed in a video that the village cut the P10,000 she earned at the Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk and Families distribution on June 6 in Digos City to P1,500.In the viral video, Villarin stated that after receiving the financial assistance, she was notified that she had to remit the money to the Sinawilan Barangay Hall.
