“There’s only 10 they take for the whole province. I was pretty excited when they said my name,” said the 17-year-old cattle farmer from Mabou who was placed on Team Nova Scotia after a competition in Berwick on Oct. 1.

The Team Nova Scotia selection continues a successful year for Campbell that previously saw Joy named grand champion in Antigonish, Oxford and Pugwash. It’s just Campbell’s third year of 4-H competition, including a mostly lost year due to COVID cancellations. The awards and accolades that are now coming are the result of much hard work for the young cattle farmer who has been training Joy since her birth.

“And she’s real quiet. I had her at Antigonish with my other animals and kids were petting it. She’s pretty quiet.” “It’s always a big accomplishment because we are a smaller county and there’s not as many farms, but we have some great quality producers and cattle here and it is always nice to see them recognized.”
