“Last year we did see a drop in the number of people taking flu vaccines and I think it’s vaccine overload and that’s unfortunate as we hope that everybody who needs one and wants one will get one. Some people are on their fourth or fifth COVID vaccination now and I think it’s a case of people being tired of getting poked.”to reconsider as even if they don’t get sick they can pass the flu on to more vulnerable members of society.
Nova Scotia Health and Wellness department communications advisor Khalehla Perrault said the province is expected to make an announcement next week about how and when people can book their flu shot appointments. Perrault said the province advises all Nova Scotians, especially those at high risk of complications, over the age of six to have an influenza immunization shot. All flu shot jabs are provided free of charge.
“We’re still in the planning stages when it comes to doing private clinics and going to rural communities,” he said.
