West Prince District RCMP has arrested a 55-year-old man after reports from the public of a vehicle driving dangerously and speeding in O’Leary on April 29. - ContributedPORT AU BRAS, N.L. — Residents in Port au Bras are now free to resume normal activities and there is no threat to public safety, the RCMP said shortly after midnight Tuesday.
"The RCMP thanks residents for their cooperation during this incident. A police presence may continue for a short period," the statement said.The RCMP has advised that an incident requiring police response is currently underway in Port au Bras on the Burin Peninsula. Area residents are asked to remain in their homes and others are asked to avoid the area until further notice.
Around 8:30 p.m., the RCMP issued this notice:"Residents of Port au Bras can expect to see a continued police presence as our officers respond to an incident in the community. Area residents are asked to remain in their homes and others to avoid the area. Your continued cooperation and patience are requested."
