Canucks director of player development Ryan Johnson, who doubles as general manager of the American Hockey League affiliate in Abbotsford, stressed Sunday that a McDonough plan was always in place for him to grow within the prospect pool.
“It’s very similar to the Lockwood situation,” added Johnson. “He had an opportunity to go back and be a captain in his senior year. It’s very admirable in both cases.
