Super rookies Angel Canino of De La Salle and Trisha Tubu of Adamson battled for the first time on Sunday, March 19 in the UAAP Season 85 women's volleyball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Center.
Safe to say, Canino got the better of Tubu as the former poured 21 points and 17 receptions while the latter notched 13 points.Canino's Lady Spikers also defeated Tubu's Lady Falcons, 22-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-19.Canino wasn't big on her 'rivalry' against Tubu but she expressed her respect to her fellow rookie.'I don't really look at it that we [have rivalry] as super rookies,' said the 5-foot-11 Canino.
She's not just a mere player on the court, she's a player that you can really depend on inside the court. I really have a huge respect for her.'Interestingly, Canino and Tubu were the first two players to have been hailed as Collegiate Press Corps Player of the Week this season for their stellar performances.
