POLICE Colonel Enrico Evangelista Figueroa has officially assumed office as the new chief of the Cebu City police, replacing Police Colonel Antonietto Cañete.Cañete now serves as the officer-in-charge Chief of the Directorial Staff at the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas , effective January 11, 2025.The turnover of command was held at the office of the newly appointed PRO 7 director, Police Brigadier General Redrico Atienza Maranan.
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Maria Theresa Macatangay, deputy city director for operations at the Cebu City Police Office, the leadership transition will not affect preparations for the Sinulog Grand Parade, which is just a few days away.Macatangay assured that the Sinulog security plan is already in place, and Figueroa’s role will be to lead and supervise personnel assigned to ensure the safety of visitors.
