The envoy made the remark on Twitter in response to a post on Wednesday by Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Richard Marles.Marles said, 'The Philippines is one of our closest partners and friends.' He said he was privileged to meet President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. in Malacanang when he paid a courtesy call.'We reaffirmed our commitment to elevating our relationship to a strategic partnership,' Marles tweeted.

''We stand shoulder to shoulder with our friends,' the ambassador said.Yu said Marles visit to the Philippines 'will deepen Australia's engagement with the Philippines, including through our important cooperation on defense and security.'Australia and the United States have expressed willingness to conduct joint maritime patrols in the West Philippine Sea with the Philippines.
