Canadians are increasingly frustrated by scams and identity theft, and are rightly demanding protection against these intrusive and costly violations. Privacy and personal data control are powerful tools that can help safely confirm a person's identity. They are also the foundations of digital trust, credentials, and identity verification. These capabilities are critical—and long overdue—to support a secure digital economy.
The Digital ID and Authentication Council of Canada gauged the pulse of Canadians on these issues, and found that most people have concerns about their personal information being available online. Perhaps to no surprise, identity theft and scams targeting the senior population were the top concerns.
