With the Canada Summer Jobs program coming to a close, Sudbury Liberal MP Viviane Lapointe capped off the season by meeting with employees
The Canada Summer Jobs program resulted in more than 280 young people being hired this summer, Sudbury Liberal MP Viviane Lapointe noted in a media release.
This year’s significant drop is not addressed in the media release. Sudbury.com reached out to Lapointe’s office for comment, and learned this year’s funding brings the program back to pre-pandemic levels. In the media release, it’s noted that employment among youths aged 15 to 24 has “more than recovered from the job losses it suffered from the COVID-19 pandemic,” with 2.7 million youths working in March 2023, an increase of 83,000 from pre-pandemic levels.
“It is always such a pleasure meeting with Canada Summer Jobs participants and hearing about their experiences,” she said in a media release.
