Campaigning inside jails allowed

CANDIDATES for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections may campaign inside jail facilities to sway votes from persons deprived of liberty who are eligible to participate in the village and youth polls on October 30, 2023.

Onsite voting means the PDLs can cast their vote through a specialized polling center inside the jail facility, while offsite means they will be escorted to a regular voting precinct in their respective barangays.Superintendent Thomas Augustine Catarata, head of BJMP-Central Visayas’ community relations service section, said on October 18 that special polling centers will be established inside the jail if there are over 50 voting PDLs.
