Cagayan bans entry of frozen, processed pork products
The provincial government here declared a total ban on the entry of swine and all fresh, frozen and processed pork products in the entire province starting September 9.
This was ordered by Governor Manuel N. Mamba when he signed Executive Order No. 24 on Monday, September 7, according to the Cagayan Provincial Information Office. According to the CPIO, the order was issued to prevent the African swine fever from spreading in the province since the 19 towns of Isabela are already infected of ASF, based on an advisory from the Department of Agriculture .
There is a high transmittal tendencies in frozen products that is why its a pre-emptive measure to prevent the entry of ASF in the region, officials here said.
