The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines will install on Sept. 30 an upgraded version of its Communications, Navigation, Surveillance, and Air Traffic Management system worth $1.5 million.
The move is part of the agency’s commitment to modernize and enhance the functionality and software stability of the Air Traffic Management System through the installation and launch of an updated ATMS software version, under the existing software support and maintenance services contract with Thales.
The agency, along with its technology solution provider Thales, assures that minimal disturbance will affect some flights during the installation and software updates, which are scheduled to take place during slow hours of passenger traffic. Apolonio said this proactive approach may result in some delays, but necessary to maintain safety standards.
