CITY OF MALOLOS: Rains dumped by the southwest monsoon in Bulacan province have caused Bustos Dam to release excess water while the water level in Angat Dam has elevated.
Retired police Col. Manuel Lukban Jr., provincial disaster risk reduction management office officer in charge, said the water elevation of Angat Dam has already risen above its minimum operating level of 180 meters.PDRRMO report showed that as of 8 a.m. on Monday, July 17, Angat Dam's water level was monitored at 180.13 meters compared to 179.14 meters the previous day.Meanwhile, excess water was released from Bustos Dam from Sunday evening until Monday morning.
The spilling level of Bustos Dam is 17.35 meters.'The dam is releasing 54 cubic meter per second of water on its downstream river system while irrigation water is not being released on its service areas,' Salazar said.As these developed, the PDRRMO also reported that a total of 123 families or 439 individuals were brought to 10 evacuation centers in Bulacan due to rising floodwater.
