Bulacan, Laguna, Tarlac, Cebu express intent for Pharma-dev ecozones
Companies from three provinces in Luzon and one in Central Visayas have already expressed their intent to be part of the Pharma-dev ecozones. At the Saturday News Forum, Philippine Economic Zone Authority Director General Tereso Panga said these companies are from Bulacan, Laguna, Tarlac, and Cebu.“‘Yung sa Tarlac nakapag-file na sa amin. Sa Bulacan ready na. Hinihintay namin ‘yung sa sa Laguna,” Panga said.
PEZA had said the ecozones are seen to boost local supply as well as provide opportunities for Filipino small, medium enterprises to engage in the manufacturing and tolling of drugs, food supplements, and other medical products.Integration into these ecozones and global value chains, PEZA said, will further support the capacity and competitiveness of Filipino businesses. The introduction of pharma-dev ecozones is seen to increase medical and drug manufacturing-related investments in the country.
