SHOWING a touching empathy and respect on All Souls' Day, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) held memorial services in various operating and prison farms on Saturday for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) who died during their incarceration.
SHOWING a touching empathy and respect on All Souls' Day, the Bureau of Corrections held memorial services in various operating and prison farms on Saturday for persons deprived of liberty who died during their incarceration.According to BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr., since Nov. 9, 2022, when he assumed his position, the remains of 384 PDLs have been interred at the New Bilibid Prisons Cemetery, including 20 PDLs whose remains were to rest on Oct.
This commemoration was part of BuCor's ongoing efforts to provide humane and respectful treatment for all incarcerated individuals, even in death.The ceremonies included lighting candles for each of the recently interred PDLs, with a particular focus on those who had no family to honor their memory.
