The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) launched the Youth Financial Inclusion (YFI) initiative to promote financial literacy and inclusion among Filipino youth. The initiative aims to engage nearly one-third of the country's population aged 15-30 who remain financially excluded. Through programs like the YFI Ambassadors Program and Hackathon, the BSP seeks to empower young Filipinos to innovate and contribute to the country's economic growth.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas is counting on the youth to influence the economy and become more financially literate.

Romulo-Puyat said about 27 percent of ages 15 to 19 years old have formal accounts while 21 percent are saving. The YFI initiative is aligned with the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion 2022-2028, where the youth is a priority segment given their potential to drive financial inclusion, innovation and economic dynamism.
