Concentrix Philippines says it is ready to absorb thousands of displaced tourism workers in the coming months through a fully-online recruitment process to limit interactions

Thousands of jobs await tourism workers displaced by the pandemic in the months to come, business process outsourcing company Concentrix Philippines said.

"Concentrix plans to hire literally thousands of people for the remainder of the year, and what we're trying to do is prioritize those displaced workers because we want to make a difference to the community," Vice President for Delivery Shared Services Amit Jagga told CNN Philippines' Rico Hizon. Job-seekers need not worry about their current whereabouts, as the entire recruitment process will be done online and arrangements can be made to accommodate potential workers even in smaller provinces, with the firm citing Pangasinan as an example.

"[W]e actually have an arrangement where we're trying to recruit a lot of people who are displaced who can work right from Pangasinan with the connectivity that we have or we can provide them right in the comfort and safety of their homes," he explained. Jagga added that displaced tourism workers may still find the skills and experience they picked up from their previous work once they take on jobs in the BPO spectrum. For instance, former booking staff may work as customer support since their past jobs heavily involved communicating with customers.Tourism establishments were forced to close shop, some doing so permanently, following the declaration of quarantine restrictions in March which covers leisure travel.
