Ten-year-old Carlo Mendoza has had a lump in his left eye since he was three years old. According to his mother Rhea, it started as a small lump and grew larger as the boy got older, causing her son to get bullied. Carlo was brought to medical specialists by the GMA Kapuso Foundation to have the lump in his left eye checked, as featured on "24 Oras," Friday, which is also World Neurofibromatosis Awareness Day.He was first brought to ophthalmologist Dr. Michelle Dagta for a checkup.Dr.
Dagta explained that neurofibromatosis, particularly the first type, is a disease that causes small lumps or tumors to grow on the body's nerves."'Yung kay Carl, specifically, mas nag-mamanifest po siya sa mata," she said.
