A driver hit another car, critically injuring an eight-year-old boy, and then blew nearly four times the legal alcohol limit on the NSW Central Coast, police allege.
The woman, 51, collided with a sedan while driving an SUV in Killarney Vale early on Wednesday afternoon. The boy travelling in the sedan suffered serious injuries and was flown to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.The sedan driver, a woman aged 42, suffered minor injuries. NSW Police officers breath-tested the 51-year-old woman. After a positive roadside test, she allegedly blew 0.197 in a police station breath analysis.
She now faces seven charges including aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, high-range drink-driving and possession of a prohibited drug.The woman, who was refused bail by police, is due to face Newcastle Local Court on Thursday.
