Botolan , Zambales — Following a successful year of infrastructure development in 2024, the local government of Botolan is gearing up for even more growth and progress in 2025. Mayor Jun Omar Ebdane announced that the Botolan LGU will undertake four major construction projects this year, with a combined budget exceeding P200 million. These projects include the construction of a new municipal administrative building (P24.
9 million), a municipal motor pool (P15 million), a municipal commercial building (P90 million), and commercial spaces at the New Taugtog Resettlement Area (P70 million). According to Mayor Ebdane, these projects, outlined in his recent State of the Municipality Address (SOMA), are designed to stimulate economic growth, generate new revenue streams, provide additional office space for essential government services, and create new employment opportunities for residents. Alongside these construction endeavors, the local government is also actively acquiring four lots spanning a total of 10.7 hectares for P26.97 million. These strategically located properties will serve as the foundation for various future developments, including the new municipal motor pool, expanded facilities for the town's fire and police stations, a municipal agri-demo center to promote agricultural projects, a materials recovery facility for improved waste management, and a future home for the barangay government in Eastern Nacolcol.Mayor Ebdane further reported significant accomplishments achieved by his administration in 2024, highlighting the completion of P41.8 million worth of infrastructure projects funded by the town's 20 percent development fund and P12 million dedicated to disaster preparedness and mitigation efforts. The local government also disbursed P8.5 million in grants to support college students and P4.12 million for high school students. Ebdane emphasized Botolan's commitment to technological advancement, stating that the municipality procured information technology (IT) equipment in 2024 to establish the first smart classroom in Zambales. In collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the municipality provided internet connectivity to schools in remote Ayta villages through a Star Link dedicated satellite interface. These initiatives earned Botolan numerous accolades in 2024, including national awards for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), which came with a P1.3 million grant, and the Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance Award, recognizing its efforts with a P150,000 incentive. Botolan also received a 'Gawad Timpukan' citation from the Department of the Interior and Local Government and topped the provincial competition for the High-Value Crop Development Program with its 'Gulayan sa Barangay' project
