The new low-cost airline wins approval to start flying across regional Australia.

abc.net.au/news/new-airline-bonza-approved-by-casa-regional-australia-flights/101849982Bonza Airlines has been given the go-ahead to begin flights to regional airports across Queensland and interstate following approval by the industry regulator.

Bonza announced it was granted its Air Operator Certificate by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority just before 2pm Queensland time. The carrier will fly to 17 destinations from its base on the Sunshine Coast, including Albury, Avalon, Mackay, Townsville, Cairns, and Melbourne. The first tickets to its planes — nicknamed Shazza, Bazza, and Sheila — will be sold for flights from the airline's Sunshine Coast base in Queensland.

Infrastructure Minister Catherine King said it was the first new major airline for Australia since Tiger Airways launched more than 15 years ago.
