A simulation of the fuel marking and testing process was recently conducted to determine “possible gaps and areas of improvement” ahead of its implementation, the Bureau of Customs said.
The simulation, according to the bureau, was conducted at the Tipo Gate of Subic Freeport Zone in Subic on July 25. It aims to identify possible gaps and areas for improvement in the process, which will be addressed by the bureau through a Customs Memorandum Order.
From that process, the test results would either reflect “pass” or “fail.” Upon completion of the testing process, the fuel marking technician will reseal the compartment where the sample was taken. It will be implemented “to plug leakages caused by fuel fraud” and is expected to help return the stolen revenue to the government.
Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero led the simulation activity that was also attended by Deputy Commissioner Teddy Raval, Director Yasser Ismail Abbas, Collector Maritess Martin, Atty. Beverly Milo and Atty. Edmond P. Lladoc of the Bureau of Internal Revenue and Atty. Emee Macabales of the Department of Finance.
