The Bureau of Customs – Manila International Container Port has generated PHP1.8 million in revenue from a recent public auction of forfeited goods. In a statement on Wednesday, District Collector Rizalino Jose Torralba reported that the auction of 13 containers with different items was conducted on Nov. 29, 2024.

The Auction and Cargo Disposal Division of the MICP collected PHP1,782,500 from auction proceeds and PHP20,200 from bidder registration fees. The public auctions were mandated under Sections 1118 and 1139 to 1151 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act and guided by Customs Administrative Order 03-2020. Torralba said such provisions permit the Bureau to dispose of seized, abandoned, and forfeited goods through various modes of disposition, including public auctions.
