ZAMBOANGA CITY – Six passengers of a wooden-hulled boat that sank off Baguan Island waters in Tawi Tawi were rescued by the Philippine Marines on Thursday, July 7.

The report was relayed by the Naval Forces Western Mindanao which said that the boat left Tabawan, South Ubian for Taganak Island on July 5 but encountered bad weather the following day. Members of the Marine Battalion Landing 12 under the 2nd Marine Brigade readily proceeded to the area upon receiving the information.

The Marines rescued boat captain Abdulmiuin S Paring, crew members Radzmil Jurupin, Mawi Paring, and three other unidentified passengers. The victims were given food and clothing and turned over to the Ministry of Social Services and Development for further assistance.
