Despite bowing to defending champion Japan, 1-9, at the end of the Women's Softball Asia Cup elimination round on Friday, the Philippines still claimed a spot in the prestigious2024 Women's Softball World Cup.
The Blu Girls ended their preliminary round games with a 5-3 win-loss record and will vie for the bronze medal against either China or Chinese Taipei at the Songdo LNG Stadium in Incheon, South Korea on Saturday.Aside from the regional title, also at stake in the tournament are three automatic berths for the 2024 Women's Softball World Cup.
'The group stage of the 2024 Women's Softball World Cup will be held as three separate tournaments in Ireland, Spain and Italy from July 11 to 26, 2023.The World Cup finals will take place in Italy next year.The Philippines secured the number four spot in the Asia Cup – and a ticket to the World Cup – after scoring a 10-0 win against India coupled by the 11-0 victory by Japan over host South Korea on Thursday.
