A Catholic Church leader urges the faithful “to carry their cross with faith” as Christendom observes Good Friday tomorrow.
“We can consider the corona virus disease as our cross that causes suffering and entails sacrifices. Let us remember that when Jesus took up the cross, carried it, and died on it, we were saved and ransomed from death.
This suffering has a purpose. Therefore, let us carry our cross with faith,” said Balanga Bishop Ruperto C. Santos.“If COVID-19 is our cross, let us carry it with firmness of faith. God will sustain and strengthen us. Even if we fall, He will lift us up, will raise us up, and lead us to our Easter Sunday,” Santos said.Santos called on “all who are burdened to come to Jesus.”
“During this time of pandemic, we are all suffering and making sacrifices. There is separation, distance, and even, isolation. Jesus said, ‘Come to me all who are burdened and I will give you rest’ . This reminds us not to give up. Go to God. Don’t lose hope. Hold on to Him,” the Church leader said. The Diocese of Balanga, meanwhile, is holding a “Seven Day Prayer in the time of COVID-19 Pandemic,” which are recited every day with the assigned intentions.
