I spent my birthday last week with the people who matter most to me: my family.
All that time, I kept receiving warm greetings that just filled my heart with gratitude for the life I have. Greetings came from close personal and family friends, and from people I’ve had the privilege of working with these past few years. People from my job at RFM and from my work at Go Negosyo , the heads of the big-brother companies, government officials, the subject-matter experts I’ve met through the years and countless small entrepreneurs who’ve sent their greetings over social media.
Birthdays are also a time for thanksgiving. Being able to run one of the country’s largest corporations, for example, is thanks largely to the mentorship of my grandfather and my father. Moreover, the support of a competent team and a loving family makes it possible for me to carry out my duties. Family has always played a pivotal role in my life. Growing up, my parents instilled in me a deep appreciation for the importance of family and the value of maintaining a good reputation. As I’ve grown older, I’ve come to understand the significance of legacy even more profoundly. The good name that one leaves behind is a precious gift to one’s children, and it is a legacy that I have strived to uphold and pass on to my own children.
