Operators from a US-based coffeehouse franchise, Biggby Coffee, visited Bukidnon to explore direct sourcing opportunities from local coffee growers, supported by the Department of Agriculture's efforts to connect farmers with global markets.

MARAMAG, Bukidnon — The Rural Improvement Club Federation of Kape Maramag Inc. is taking strides towards the global market, thanks to the Department of Agriculture 's (DA) support in initiatives such as market linkage, product promotion, and equipment provision. Operators from a US-based coffeehouse franchise, Biggby Coffee, visited local farms on January 25th to explore direct sourcing opportunities with Philippine growers.

The federation, comprised of farmers in the town, focuses on coffee value chain development. The visit, coordinated by the DA's Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service and facilitated by the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division of Region 10 (Northern Mindanao), aimed to understand the practices and challenges faced by local growers, with the ultimate goal of establishing a supply chain link between Biggby Coffee and Bukidnon's thriving coffee industry.Lucia Cabacoy, a coffee grower and federation member, demonstrated her 2-hectare farm featuring Catimor, Arabica, and Sweet Coffee varieties to the visiting operators in Barangay Silang. To further explore potential sourcing prospects, the operators also engaged with other coffee farmers in the province, including Corazon Llauderes of the Impalutao-Dalwangan-Sawaga Agrarian Reform Cooperative and Edeamae Onduran from Miarayon, Talakag. This visit aligns with the DA's initiative to connect farmers' production with broader markets and solidifies the agency's ongoing efforts to promote and expand Bukidnon's coffee presence in the global trade
