The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has expressed deep concern over the increasing incidence of counterfeit Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) certificates being utilized by traffickers to exploit Filipino women. ManilaBulletin
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco emphasized that these counterfeit certificates can be easily detected due to the direct information link between the bureau and the CFO.
The GCP is a mandatory pre-departure seminar organized by the CFO, aimed at equipping Filipinos involved in inter-marriages and bi-national relationships with vital information about the cultural and social realities abroad. Tansingco revealed that the most recent incident occurred on June 16 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport , where a 29-year-old woman was denied boarding her flight to Pudong, China after presenting a forged certificate. She was traveling with her alleged Chinese husband.
