THE Bureau of Fire Protection continues to receive an unmodified opinion from the Commissionon Audit for fiscal year 2023 in compliance with Section 43 of the Government Auditing Code ofthe Philippines or Presidential Decree 1445.Because of this, the BFP expects Congress to release an additional budget for the bureau'smodernization program this year. The agency has an additional P4.5 billion to purchase modernequipment to advance its modernization program for the year 2024.
COA earlier endorsed BFP's initiatives to establish a modernization program that conforms tocontemporary standards.The COA report noted that there was no irregularity in the BFP's efforts to establish the necessarytechnical requirements that are needed to modernize its methods and programs in the field of disasterand fire response.COA's Financial Management Performance Rating report earlier praised the BFP for its exceptionalperformance in the 2022 assessment.
